Finals Week!

Oh finals week....
I have gotten super lucky for finals week. I only have one final and I am super happy about that. I know finals are all stressed all the time about them, but really how I get through them easier is tell myself once finals are over I get to go home! Back to Sparks, Nevada. So excited to go home, it is that time where I need to get away from the Utah air and be with my family.

I need to get away from the crowd here and go see the crowd that I grew up around. I hope that my brother gets to come home. He is playing football at Montana State and they won the Big Sky Conference so he is still playing. He plays tomorrow on ESPN 2 at 6 pm. I am so stocked for him but then again I miss him like crazy and I hope I get to see him over break. He means the world to me and I am so proud of him for everything he has accomplished.

I could not image being a D1 athlete and winning a ring my freshmen year. He has been handed so many opportunities and I am so happy for him. He is an awesome kid and I can't believe how far he has gotten. Makes me so proud to call him my little brother.

I can say that I go to Weber State but I am a die hard Montana State Bobcats fan. Lets GO get that dub tomorrow. Tune in to ESPN 2 at 6pm tomorrow night. Look for that stud kickoff kicker number 42 A.J. Silva! LOVE HIM! <3

Thanksgiving! :)

So me and a teammate were walking to class and all we talked about was how we wish thanksgiving break and Christmas break were one break and not two. As an athlete when we get back that week and a half tell Christmas break its a dead week because its final week and we can't even have mandatory practices or workouts. Not saying we don't have optional workouts (which are pretty much mandatory not optional because if we don't show up the coaches will look at us differently.) Anyways I think the school needs to think about starting school earlier and give us the week of thanksgiving and Christmas one break. Its only a week and a half more then regular break. Just an option WEBER STATE! :)
Anyways I am super excited to go home tomorrow! Really stocked and can't wait, and I cant figure out if I am stressed out for finals or not yet. I just wanted to wish everyone luck on studying and doing GREAT on their finals over thanksgiving break and when we came back. I need all the luck I can get. Grades are great right now but who noes how they will look after finals week.
One last thing I wanted to complain about with my team. Gosh I need to stop complaining about it, but have I mentioned yet that coach is making us take 18 credits next semester with our full schedule. This means that when we leave on a Thursday for a tournament or conference I will be missing all 5 of my classes that are on campus. Doesn't make any sense to me in the fact that we may be failing some classes next semester. Setting us up for failure. But her thory behind it was that she thinks it will be easier to drop classees then add them. But let me ask a question, why would I be adding another class when I don't want more then 15 credits? Just so confused. okay I am done complaining now. ;)
EVERYONE HAVE A GREAT THANKSGIVING BREAK AND MAKE SURE YOU GET SOME STUDYING IN. :)

Strength!

I just started working out again this last week.
My first year as a freshmen, lets just say I didn't come in as prepared as I should have been for working out and being in shape. I was always in the last three on every conditioning drill that we did and I felt like I would of been one of the stronger ones on the team, but I wasn't. I told myself at the end of the year I didn't want to come back as a slow girl again. So I busted my butt over the summer. I was going to get into a program for speed because I was determined to get faster. While in the process of trying to find this place back home (Reno, Nevada) I decided to try this other thing that was just getting started and it was called FAST (Functional Athletic Strength Training). I met this wonderful man named Carlos Madrid; an ex MLB player. He made me a completely different athlete. I wasn't this clumsy, sloppy athlete anymore. I could control my body and I was FAST! I was a good athlete before but Carlos made me a GREAT athlete. I couldn't have asked for a better trainer. I was so addicted to the program he had me on I was going 6 times a week sometimes 7.
When I came back my sophomore year I kicked butt in all the conditioning drills and was way stronger. I wasn't one of the last 3 I was one of the top 3 every time. I reached the goal that I wanted. After my sophomore year I did the same thing over the summer so I didn't lose anything that I had accomplished. It was the best feeling ever. But as most of you know I have gotten injured and have lost almost all of that. So getting back into working out is kicking my butt. I hope that it all comes back fast when I start going hard again, but being injured really does set you back. I am ready to start my journey back to building up to where I was. Being one of the upper class men on my team I need to be a role model and get back to the top so I can set the pace for the future girls. I am super stocked that I am almost over the healing process. Another thing that goes on in a life of a collegiate athlete. Sometimes you get hurt. but you have to rise back up and show the world what you can do and how strong and willing you are to be a star again.

Peace Yo!

DODGEBALL!

So today we had a couple recruits on campus. Oh by the way... snow all day??? Don't understand that one. Ruined our day out on the field for kick ball that I was soooo excited for and realized that I probably shouldn't be excited for it because I CANT EVEN PLAY!! Anyways back to the recruits being on campus. So we had this dodgeball game all set up for 2:30 in the gym and we were so excited to show the recruits about how cool our team is, and when we were about to go she (the recruit) didn't want to go play dodge ball but go to the hotel and sleep. So we ended up going to the gym and playing with just our awesome team. It was soo much fun, and YES if you all were wondering I did play dodge ball, probably shouldn't have, but I did! :) Oh this gimp stuff has got to go away soon. I miss everything that I could be doing. But I am getting there. Guess that is what it takes being a collegiate athlete. You get hurt. Oh one more thing... So after dodge ball a couple of us stayed to shoot some baskets and I was trying to be all cool shooting some hoop and the slippery part of my boot slide across the basketball court and I ended up sliding into the split position and fell on my butt. Got up and looked around to see if anyone saw and some of my team definitely saw the whole thing. I said, "ummm... Did you guys see that."
They said, "yeah we thought you were doing some type of dance move."
All alone just falling on my butt and my team mates thought I was doing some type of dance move. Oh gosh sometimes I wish I wasn't so clumsy. :) I don't know if any of you are laughing but I am a lot. Guess you had to be there! Well this girl is out. Tired and ready for bed. Gotta get up nice and early on a Saturday to instruct a camp! :) PEACE YO!

Schdule for spring is here!

We got our offical schedule the other day and I am here to show you it... Everyone should come out to our games! They are fun to be at and we need the fans. We are a new program here at Weber State and we have been going strong for 4 years now. I have been here for 3 of those years and we have gotten better every year. The first year I was here we didn't do so well only winning 2 of our conference games. Losing 18. This last year we won 10 conference games and lost 10 so we went half and half, so.... This year we are going to kick butt and be GREAT and having you fans out there will make us that much better.
Update on what we are doing right now. This week we just started individuals and we call them that because only 4 girls can be out on the field at once with a coach present. During team practice weeks we get 20 hours to practice as a team but during individuals week we only get 8 hours a week with instruction; this includes individuals, team meetings, conditioning and weights. This is our break time for the year. We aren't playing any games right now, so with individuals starting it feels like we have a life. ;) below is our schedule for the spring and I really really really would like to see you guys out there. We are going to be good this year a lot of new talent and I am excited about this team.

Color Day!

THE TEAM!

These are the cool outfits we wore to practice the other day. It was theme week, and this means that it was our last week of team practices. We only get a certain amount of team practices for the fall season... I know all these rules. There is plenty of them, but we always have fun with it for the last week.

Meet the best friend! MORGAN

This right here is my best friend and we do everything together. I don't know what I would do without her. Being an athlete really opens up yourself and you meet life long friends. I can say that I have only known Morgan for almost one year now and we will be best friends for the rest of our life's. I love her ta death and I thank softball for bring me such an amazing friend. LOVE YOU MORGAN!
Meet the roommates:Morgan, Brooke (ME) , Kubo, and Rudi

Then there is these girls. Last year at the end of the year we got to pick roommates for this  year. Me and Morgan knew that we were going to be roommates but we had know Idea about any of the other girls that were coming in. We went into coaches office one day to pick our roommates and put two girls names together and this is who we ended up with. Kubo and Rudi, they are two great individuals and it would be so weird if we roomed with anyone else. They are awesome and we have all made so many memories already. Being on the softball team here at Weber State has made me, me and I am so happy that I ended up here. :)
